Gorgonzola Stuffed Burgers, Teppan-grilled!
Grilling is a favorite summer pastime for many folks, but the thought of standing over an open flame can be a little much during these extra-hot dog days of summer. That is one of the many benefits of cooking on the Cook-N-Dine Teppanyaki; you can grill up your favorite meal without any fire or flames. This baby is all electric. So gather up your ingredients, and let's get grilling! For these burgers you'll need:
- 1.25 lb ground beef; half sirloin, half brisket or your favorite mix
- 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
- 1/3 cup minced onion
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 4-6 oz Gorgonzola
- High smoke point oil (canola or avocado) or your favorite cooking spray
- Salt, to taste
- 4 seasame seed burger buns
- Tomato slices, shredded lettuce and any other toppings you enjoy
Combine meat with Worcestershire, onion, garlic, and salt. Mix gently, not overworking the meat. Make 8 thin burger patties, then divide the Gorgonzola in to 4 and place each one at the center of 4 patties. Top with the remaining 4 patties, pinching down the edges all around to seal the cheese in. Brush or spritz with a little cooking oil or spray.Preheat your Cook-N-Dine Teppanyaki cooktop at level 5, then turn up to 9 and wait for orange light to turn off and indicate that the surface is ready. Place the oiled side of the burgers down on to the teppan grill, allowing about an inch of space between the burgers. Once the burgers start to cook, you can place your buns down on the edge to toast them. For some extra flavor, feel free to add a little butter or olive oil to the buns. Keep an eye on them, once they have browned just move them over to the warming area of the teppanyaki. Some Gorgonzola may ooze out a bit if the edges of the burgers aren't well pinched. If this happens, you can push the melted cheese under the burger so you'll still get as much of the delicious Gorgonzola as possible. And don't worry, there will still be a good amount at the center. Each side will cook for about 2-3 minutes at first, on level 9 to sear the outside. Then turn the Teppanyaki down to level 7 and cook each side for another 2-3 minutes. Keep an eye on the firmness of the meat, cooking it to your personal preference. Turn the temperature off and move the meat to the warming edges after moving the buns to plates. Allow the meat to sit and rest for another minute or two, letting the cheese and juices settle. Then dress your burger as you like, and enjoy!PRINTABLE RECIPEAnd you can also check out our redesigned Cook-N-Dine Recipe Page.
